Who can take class?
Anyone age 7 and older can take class. Parents can take the combined class with their children, or they can come to the adults class, or both! Children under age 12 need prior instructor permission to come to adults class.
When is class held?
Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Combined Class (focus on kids): 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
Adults Class: 7:15 to 8:30 p.m.
What style is taught?
A broad interpretation of Tae Kwon Do that uses judo, boxing, joint manipulation, and grappling techniques.
Who teaches it?
Timothy J. Burns. He has been teaching children since 1987, and adults since 1991. Other instructors teach class from time to time.
How long has the program been around?
Since 1991.
What does it cost?
$40.00 per session for Monroe residents
($35.00 for each additional family member)
$47.00 per session for non-residents
($42.00 for each additional family member).
How long is a session?
About 3 months. Sessions dates vary, but are usually September-November, December-February, March-May, and June-August. Specific dates are on our Calendar Page.
Can I come watch?
Sure! Stop down at the Senior Center to watch a class and see if you'd like to join. Feel free to introduce yourself before or after class, and to ask questions.
